The incident took place around 8:36 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, when Dutchess County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call on Clay Hill Road in the Village of Tivoli, said authorities.
Arriving deputies found a 20-year old male resident from Red Hook with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Dutchess County Sheriff's Lt. Shawn Castano said.
Tivoli Rescue, assisted by Northern Dutchess Paramedics, transported the victim to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for serious injuries.
The investigation spanned into Columbia County and ultimately into Greene County where Sheriff’s detectives took the suspect, of Cario, in Greene County, New York, into custody without incident.
"The investigation indicates that this incident was not a random act of violence," Castano said.
The teen was charged with assault, robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon.
He is being held at the Woodfield Secure Cottage in Valhalla, in lieu of a $150,000 cash/$300,000 bond.
